The Golf Club

Bolton Golf Club is recognised as one of the finest golf clubs in the North West of England.

THE COURSE

The course was originally laid out in 1912 and some years later the design was modified after consultations with the famous golf designer HS Colt. Visitors frequently praise the course which is regarded as a very fair test of golf. It has been used regularly for Championship events and we were proud to have hosted the Lancashire Championship again in 2015 as well as the Lancashire Ladies Championship in 2017.

We boast some of the finest greens in the area, which are hand cut on a daily basis during the summer. Under STRI guidance, we have been working on improving drainage as well as introducing tree management and bunker improvement programmes.

TEE AVAILABILITY IS EASY

We are a members’ club and take pride in keeping the numbers of members and visitors at levels which ensure that tee availability is easy. We have an on-line booking system so that we can better manage the times when visitors and members can play.

OPEN FOR PLAY

We pride ourselves on having a course which is open and playable on regular greens throughout the year thanks to the efforts of our Course team.

FRIENDLY MEMBERSHIP

New members always comment on the warm welcome they receive and the number of roll ups available which ensure that as a newcomer they can turn up and get a game with other members. Regular social occasions also help new members “get into the Bolton way”.

AN INTEGRATED CLUB

The Ladies and Gentlemen’s sections are fully integrated, with all members treated equally in all respects and we have a longstanding tradition of Mixed Competitions. The Club also boasts a thriving and successful juniors section.

CLUBHOUSE HOSPITALITY

Our Clubhouse is a welcoming retreat after your round of golf and we offer an excellent choice of menus, whether it be for snacks or more formal dining for both members and visitors to enjoy.

SOCIAL EVENTS AND FUNCTIONS

Our Clubhouse has a number of function rooms of varying capacity which are available for hire by members and non members for weddings, birthday parties, funerals and meetings. Bar and catering facilities are available for refreshments, snacks, lunch and dinner every day of the week with extended hours during the summer. The club also has a sound system with audio/visual equipment for hire.
