Ladies

Ladies of all levels of experience are welcome at BGC.

For Ladies with some experience, our principal competition day is Tuesday with alternate competition days on Sundays and some Saturdays. There is a friendly roll up on a Thursday morning as well as friendly matches with local clubs. Once a month, on a Friday, the club holds a Mixed 13 hole competition followed by a lively supper.

The ladies section has a Scratch team, Handicap team and Bronze team which play in the Lancashire leagues. BGC is involved in the Bolton Town competitions, the 2018 Bolton Champion is one of our members, and a team from our club are the holders of the 2018 Golf Cot Trophy. The club is also involved in Manchester competitions.

For Ladies wanting to start playing golf, Matthew Galley our excellent professional, offers several coaching packages to fit your requirements, either individually or in a group.

When you are ready to play, one of our ladies will “buddy” up to you to help you make that transition from the practice area to the course.

Ladies who would like to become Social members rather than golf members, we hold many social events including regular ladies presentation evenings, as well as a wide variety of themed evenings. Bridge is played by both experienced and beginners with opportunities to play friendly and competitive games. During the winter months we arrange a variety of trips from the club e.g. to Manchester theatres, stately homes.

We welcome all new members and look forward to meeting you.

Seniors

Bolton Golf Club has an active, sociable seniors section for the over 55 golfer all of whom are welcome to take part in our programme of events, matches and roll ups.

The Club's seniors play in the BGA (Bolton Golf Association) seniors league against 7 other Bolton based Clubs. Matches are played in a friendly but competitive manner, Monday at home and Thursday away throughout the season. Players 55 years and over are invited to play in the team when we get together after the golf for a 2 course dinner and presentation. Of a more serious nature, we also enter a team in the MDGA (Manchester District Golf Association) seniors knockout where 5 players under 15 handicap and 5 above make up the team.

There are a further 3 friendly matches organised so our programme is quite busy and competitive.

Throughout the season there are roll ups on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the annual Christmas "cakewalk" privides a friendly 13 hole competition followed by a Christmas dinner.

July sees the Club senior championships over 2 rounds played off white tees and full handicap.

Members interested in representing the Club at senior level are asked to e-mail Brian Wignall (Seniors Organiser) [email protected]

“As a new member and only played four times I find the course in great condition for February. Great practice facilities and so far very friendly people, can't wait for the warmer days in the coming months and seeing the course at its best.”
